Eastside Family Place – Board Director Recruitment Eastside Family Place (ESFP) is a small charitable non-profit organization that operates in East Vancouver. With an annual general meeting scheduled for early October, we are currently looking to augment our board of directors. ESFP shares a city building with Britannia Community Services just off Grandview Park. Our service areas include family support; quality play-based early learning and care; parent education; information, referral and service navigation.

Board general skills:

• Experience/interest in community development, support to families

• Leadership experience (Board experience an asset)

• Problem solving/consensus building abilities

• Positive perspectives around diversity

• Excellent communication skills

2020 Nominee Focus: Indigenous lens, Accounting / Finances, Website Expertise, Marketing/PR/Comms, Child Care Background, Change Management

The ESFP Board is a mix of 5-9 individuals who offer a range of professional backgrounds and/or are current recipients of ESFP services: This Board has a policy and governance focus. Directors are appointed by Board then elected at next AGM (scheduled for early October 2020) for 2-year renewable terms.

Board Expectations:

• Attendance at monthly evening meetings (currently via Zoom video)

• Review of supporting documents in advance of meetings

• Stay informed on ESFP activities, request information, ask informed questions, and contribute to board discussion / decisions on policy

• Ensure that finances are managed in a sound and ethical manner

• Participation in board committees and/or special event support
