Annual Giving Coordinator - Five Counties Children's Centre

Position Summary:

  • Assumes a supporting role in the development, coordination and delivery of fundraising activities to further the mission and maximize the net revenues for the Centre
  • Plays a key role in coordinating the development and implementation of fundraising programs to increase revenues from individuals, foundations, community groups and corporations
  • Works with volunteers and assists with fundraising communications and marketing activities
  • Takes a lead role in raising revenues from the annual giving program

Main Responsibilities:

Fundraising:

  • Coordinate the Annual Giving fundraising activities including the Direct Mail program, foundation applications, events, campaigns, and online giving
  • Assist in the development of a fundraising strategic plan and annual operating plans
  • Ensure that fundraising activities are consistent with Five Counties Children’s Centre mission, vision and values and are conducted in an ethical and legal manner
  • Assist and support the identification and solicitation of prospective donors
  • Help set and achieve annual fundraising targets related to Annual Giving

Relationship Building Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate and steward relationships with individuals, volunteers, corporate and foundation donors and partners
  • Recognize donors and volunteers using a variety of tools
  • Identify and establish community partnerships which will result in support through sponsorships, promotion, in-kind support and/or donations
  • Assist with community events and presentations (speaking engagements, cheque announcements)
  • Be involved with community networks as appropriate to the role

General/Administrative:

  • Develop metrics/gather data to analyze annual fundraising performance and program growth
  • Ensure the maintenance and accuracy of comprehensive records in the fundraising development database, including cost analysis and evaluations
  • Provide the Director of Fund Development with regular reports on the progress of the Centre’s fundraising activities related to annual giving activities
  • Provide information and updates of fundraising activities and revenues for Board meetings, newsletters, social media and the website
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of fundraising best practices and innovations
  • Maintain up to date knowledge and expertise in all aspects of legislation affecting philanthropy
  • Monitor and analyze trends in the region and industry in order to adapt fundraising strategies as necessary
  • Assist with communications and marketing for fundraising purposes
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Fund Development

Qualifications:

Education/Certifications

  • Post-secondary education in a related field

Experience    

  • Minimum three years related experience, ideally in the not-for-profit sector
  • Demonstrated track record in fundraising, including direct mail, working with volunteers, events, and database management
  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective marketing and communication practices
  • Knowledge of Canada Revenue Guidelines and Policies
  • Strong relationship and community development skills
  • Highly motivated and creative
  • Resourceful and independent, but comfortable working within a team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated team building skills, including the ability to motivate volunteers
  • Effective time management, organizational, and planning skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, communication and presentation skills, to a widely varied audience
  • Displays excellent judgement, tact, diplomacy, and ability to respect confidentiality

Other Requirements

  • Computer proficiency including but not limited to experience with online resources, fundraising software and Microsoft Office 365 (Word, PowerPoint, spreadsheet and database applications).
  • Valid driver’s license and access to vehicle to travel
  • This role will require regular travel within the Peterborough, Lindsay and Northumberland areas
  • Able to work on weekends and evenings as required
