Accounting Bookkeeper - LetsStopAIDS

LetsStopAIDS is a Canadian youth-HIV charity that focuses on HIV prevention and knowledge exchange by engaging young people and fostering leadership. Since 2004, we have been creating a global network of youth-HIV leaders. LetsStopAIDS is entirely run by volunteers and your contribution will be part of the broader volunteer effort.


About You

We are looking for an Accounting Bookkeeper who will work very closely with and report to the Controller to be responsible for ensuring completeness, accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting and provide analytical detail on financial results, identify process issues and implement improvements. You will be working with our growing financial and development team to provide immediate and long-term financial, operations and administrative function execution (including IT) as well as ensure full-cycle accounting processes are completed in a timely manner. 

This is an exciting role with significant exposure to impact a rapidly scaling organization. We are improving LetsStopAIDS’ financial transparency and accountability for the better.

For 10-15 hours a week, you will work with a collaborative, passionate and energetic finance team to help scale the organization’s financial processes and tackle an important social cause.  

Responsibilities & Skills

  • Assist in creating and assessing financial statements and budget documents

  • Input accounting entries into NetSuite and maintain accounting records in an accurate and timely fashion

  • Help monitor banking activities of the organization including payroll and expense management

  • Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable 

  • Assist in ensuring adequate cash flow to meet the organization's needs

  • Help oversee the management and coordination of all fiscal reporting activities for the organization

  • Assist in the preparation of the annual financial statements in accordance with Canadian GAAP and federal, provincial and other required supplementary schedules and information.

  • Assist in all aspects of accounting operations such as receivables, payables, payroll and financial reporting

  • Pursuit of or having a CA, CPA Designation would be an asset

  • Ongoing knowledge of federal and provincial legislation, CRA practices and industry updates affecting charities would be an asset 

  • Assist in completing tax return filings in a timely manner 

  • Hands on experience with full cycle accounting functions

  • Assist in the execution of project initiatives including:

    • 1) Implementation of NetSuite and

    • 2) Financial processes and internal control improvements required for scaling
