24 Hour Wake Ambassador - LetsStopAIDS

LetsStopAIDS is a Canadian youth-HIV charity that focuses on HIV prevention and knowledge exchange by engaging young people and fostering leadership. Since 2004, we have been creating a global network of youth-HIV leaders. LetsStopAIDS is entirely run by volunteers and your contribution will be part of the broader volunteer effort.

 

About You:

We are looking for 24 Hour Wake Ambassadors with the know-how to engage and motivate youth to take action locally! The 24 Hour Wake is LetsStopAIDS’ educational and fundraising event where students stay awake for 24 hours! The 24 Hour Wake is hosted by a group of individuals, typically high school students, who organize 24 hours of activities promoting HIV awareness and raise funds for LetsStopAIDS. 

 

You are engaging, friendly and open. You will motivate youth in your local community and  work alongside local event organizers. You will help provide orientation and training to other youth members about their event and help with brainstorming local issues. Being a self-starter, but a team player is critical.

Our preference is that you are a youth, who is 15-24 years old. Though, if you aren’t, you can still apply. 

 

Responsibilities & Skills:

  • Collaborate with the 24 Hour Wake Coordinator to make the 24 Hour Wake happen at assigned events

  • Support the 24 Hour Wake Coordinator with the creation of 24 Hour Wake kits and content for local event organizers

  • Supply health information and information packs to youth-related to HIV

  • Facilitate the data collection and completion of Student’s questionnaires as well as with information generated after 24 Hour Wake

  • Keep up-to-date with relevant knowledge and information

  • Schedule regular 24 Hour Wake planning meetings with local organizers, guaranteeing a minimum number of attendees per school

  • Other duties as assigned
     

Dedication: The role will require 5-8 hours per week. You can decide to volunteer remotely, however, will be encouraged to visit our Downtown Toronto (Adelaide/John) head office, once per week. Certain tasks may require irregular volunteer hours, particularly in times of need.

Preference will be given to individuals with lived experiences, relating to HIV.
