Mental Health Social Worker For Children And Youth

The CSCHN is a multidisciplinary, non-profit center that provides primary health care, social and community services to the Francophone population of Hamilton and Niagara. We are looking for a French / English bilingual professional to fill the following position: 


One (1) full time position - 35 hours/week

Workplace: Hamilton, travel between sites

Salary range: 58,412 $ to 74,482 $, excellent benefits

 Under the responsibility of the Director of Specialized Services, the incumbent will always work according to the principles of health promotion and the determinants of health. He / she provides counselling services to Francophone children, youth and teens with mild to moderate mental health issues. These services and the inherent programs aim to ensure the healthy development of children and teenagers and to develop and maintain of good relationships between parents and children.


  • Screening of youth and parents using standardized tools and prepare service plans accordingly
  • Provide counselling, education and support to children, youth and their parents
  • Accompany families, children and youth in need of specialized services
  • Develop and lead educational groups for children, adolescents and their parents
  • Organize workshops and activities to raise awareness about mental health issues
  • Advocate for Francophone children and their families
  • Participate in community initiatives and committees to improve the quality of life of youth
  • Liaise with community agencies to improve access to services in French
  • Prepare reports, maintain records and program statistics


  • Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in social work from a recognized institution
  • Be a member in good standing of the OCSWSSW
  • Minimum of three years of relevant experience
  • Developed sense of organization and in-depth understanding of child and youth mental health issues
  • Knowledge of community resources available in the area of ​​mental health
  • Be opened to the customs and habits of other cultures, openness to cultural diversity
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge and ability of basic computer software
  • Excellent knowledge of French both oral and written, good knowledge of English
  • Willingness to work flexible hours to meet clients' needs
  • Have a valid driver's license and have access to a car
