Name and description of the hiring department:

The Business Data Provisioning and Business Assurance (AOC) team is responsible for delivering IP, Broadband and Legacy services to Bell Business Market customers. As well, the Assurance team is accountable for all level 2 trouble tickets for IP, Broadband, Legacy, BTC and SipT.

 

Job Duties / Accountabilities:

  • Implement customer provisioning orders and troubleshoot network related troubles for various lines of business in a multi-vendor environment
  • Provide required status updates
  • Diagnose/troubleshoot and resolve problems in timely matter on a wide variety of hardware platforms to the satisfaction of the client
  • Perform tests to completion and /or resolution and update tickets appropriately
  • Understand when to assign tickets to proper service suppliers
  • Escalate problems to internal/external suppliers and service partners to ensure outage time is minimized and trouble orders/tickets have proper documentation
  • Responsible for customer approved changes (Change Management)
  • Deal with all levels of technical and non technical management across the district and the business
  • Deal with unexpected problems and new situations
  • Participate actively in the resolution (isolate problem) of common failures and major outage re-establishment with various teams
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Act as a team player with a focus on customer satisfaction
  • Keep up with emerging telecommunication technology

 

Essential Qualifications / Competencies:

  • Candidates who are part of the Craft and Services bargaining unit must have:
    • A college diploma in electronics or telecommunications, or equivalent work experience
    • At least one current IP certification (CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, Juniper, CVoice, etc.), or in the process of achieving it, or equivalent IP specific knowledge (is an asset)
  • Candidates from outside the Craft and Services bargaining unit must have:
    • A college diploma in electronics or telecommunications, or equivalent work experience
    • A minimum of a high school diploma
    • At least one current IP certification (CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, Juniper, CVoice, etc.) (is an asset)
  • Fluent in English and French required for Quebec 
  • Fluent in English required for Ontario
  • Intermediate knowledge of internetworking LAN/MAN/WAN
  • Intermediate knowledge of IP products and services (IPVPN, MPLS)
  • Intermediate knowledge of vendor products (Cisco, Juniper, Nortel and Alcatel)
  • Analytical thinking and problem solving abilities
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Ability to make decisions promptly and manage risks while under pressure

 

Working Conditions:
This is a 24/7 operation. The candidate may be called upon to work variable schedules according to business needs (schedules within a given day are prepared by the Company with due consideration to seniority), to participate in a standby program and work overtime as needed. Available and flexible to work days, evenings, nights, weekends, and statutory holidays as needed.


Note that many working conditions are subject to terms outlined in the collective agreement.
