Noovo is creating a news service for TV and digital offering a new voice to Quebecers with a modern tone and format. We are looking for a Multifunction Technician with impeccable French and a good knowledge of English to join our expert team of producers, editors, technicians.  We will focus on bringing an exciting new voice to daily news for Quebecers and want to inform Quebecers in a different way; more in tune with today's consumer habits.

The successful candidate has excellent news judgment, and the highest standards.

Position: Multifunction Technician

Location: Quebec, QC

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience

Job status: Regular - Full Time

Responsibilities:

  • Gather newscasts for broadcasting
  • Set up news reports, keeping a close eye on production quality
  • Direct news reports for TV and digital
  • Cover events for TV and digital, conduct interviews, write texts as needed
  • Shoot images, set up / edit / light and produce news reports for both TV and digital, with the help of a journalist or on their own
  • Propose and develop original subjects to cover; able to stay removed from the news
  • Configure and use live equipment as needed
  • Follow editorial standards and guidelines regarding accuracy, ethics and legal issues
  • Ensure equipment and mobile are in good working order
  • Other assigned tasks

Qualifications:

  • Technical training; bachelor's degree in journalism, film, communications or any other training related to the position
  • Minimum of three years of experience in TV / Web
  • Proven experience in news reporting
  • Have a good knowledge of digital formats - particularly video - be familiar with narrative styles such as gonzo journalism and new journalism
  • Proven filming and editing abilities
  • Proven organizational skills, and ability to work autonomously under tight deadlines
  • Good editorial judgment; demonstrated ability to produce original and enterprising news reports
  • Ability to manage new and emerging technologies
  • Knowledge of iNews an asset
  • Valid driver's licence and good record
  • Fluent French, good command of English

Bilingualism is required (English and French); adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
