Position: Media Digitizer, Bell Media, Unifor 79M

Location: 9 Channel Nine Court, Toronto (Ontario)

Salary: Group 4 (Commensurate with qualifications and experience)

Hours of work: 40 hours per week. Overtime as required

 

Responsibilities:

  • Encode and deliver video on demand content to various endpoints
  • Execute on Digital Bonus Livestreams for all Bell Media brands, including: source routing, event monitoring, on air changes to event scheduling/metadata
  • Prepare/Schedule Promos for Participating BDU partners
  • Schedule/Edit/Insert weekly disclaimers, original content bumpers, and preroll promotional spots for select content
  • Prepare/Transcode/Deliver Free on Demand, Electronic Sell Through, and 4K content to participating partners
  • Prepare, edit, repair and transcode promos/long form content using Sony Vegas Pro Tool
  • Perform quality control checks of all encoded material prior to publishing
  • Working understanding of LKFS specifications, AES pairing, MXF video specs and .ts files
  • Act on missing content/encode errors and ensure timely delivery to all platforms
  • Work with all BDUs (cable/satellite) and Digital partners to expire content, re-transcode/redeliver assets, and troubleshoot/manipulate/redeliver XMLs (metadata)
  • Coordinate and set-up schedules/internal sources to manage live encoders for streaming special events across the country. 
  • Capture content from Live Clipper; prepare, edit segments, transcode, deliver
  • Shift work will be required
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • University/College education in broadcasting, digital media or equivalent work experience
  • 3-5 years digital media experience
  • 1-3 years experience with encoding tools and platforms (AXIS, Impulse, Action Engine/Nightwing, Gateway, Riker (v1/v2), Elemental Encoders, Live Clipper, TVE Batch Retrieval, Smartsheet, IRIS Player)
  • Knowledge of signal acquisition, including source signal routing, audio mapping and slates
  • 1-3 years experience with Sony Vegas Pro
  • Knowledge of sports/sports broadcasting is an asset
  • Knowledge of XML, JPEG, along with other pertinent web standards
  • Adept at working with digital video/audio specs for digital applications and VOD platforms
  • Highly organized, self-motivated and creative is a must
  • Able to handle multiple tasks and maintain creativity in a high-pressure, deadline orientated environment

 

Bilingualism is an asset (English and French); adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
