Location: 1755 Rene-Levesque Est, Montreal

Status: Regular – Full Time

Salary: Commensurate with experience and education

Hours of work: 40 hours per week. Evening and Weekend position

 

Responsibilities:

  • Proposes, develops selects, assigns news stories
  • Coordinates movement of staff and oversees workflow
  • Plans coverage of future events
  • Narrates and performs on camera
  • Researches, writes, interviews, films and edits news stories for broadcast and digital
  • Operates live equipment as required
  • Coordinates news gathering requirements for other platforms
  • Contributes to social media content
  • Adheres to all standards and policies on accuracy and ethics
  • Assures equipment and mobile are in good working order
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years working in a major market newsroom
  • Excellent knowledge of local news and current affairs
  • Proven sound editorial judgement
  • Demonstrated ability to originate coverage on developing news stories and features
  • Excellent writing, reporting and live reporting skills
  • Excellent communication skills; highly organized and self-motivated
  • Able to handle multiple tasks and maintain creativity in a high-pressure, deadline oriented environment
  • Valid drivers’ license and good record

 

Bilingualism is an asset (English and French); adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
