Are you ready for a hands-on role in the field?
Do you like to know how things work? Are you mechanically-minded and good with your hands? Then you probably won’t want to sit in an office all day.
If you have a 2 - 3 year technical or engineering diploma, becoming a Field Specialist with Baker Hughes will provide you with an opportunity to exercise your curiosity, use your hands and build a career in the field.
Field Specialists perform a vital role, usually at the wellsite, operating the tools and technologies that deliver solutions to our customers. You will have the opportunity to assemble, disassemble, operate and maintain a variety of equipment, from drill bits to surface cementing gear and rotary steerable systems. This is a skilled, challenging, hands-on job because you will be responsible for ensuring that operations are safe, accurate and carried out in an efficient manner.
What do we offer?
Our Field Specialists receive all the training they need to be successful in the field through a multiphase training and development program. Phase one is structured over 12 months, with formal classroom technical instruction, as well as hands-on practice and work with equipment under supervision in a team at the wellsite. The subsequent phases combine e-learning and instructor-led training modules, leading to increasing responsibility, autonomy, and technical competence, with progression depending on your own enthusiasm and capabilities.
The Field Specialist role is highly respected within Baker Hughes. If your goal is to establish and progress in an operational field role, it offers an ideal career path. Once you have completed the field specialist career development program requirements, there are a variety of opportunities available, which include continuing in field operations or potentially areas such as technical support or applications engineering.
