Canada's most popular job board and online career resource for students and recent graduates.

Recruit Top Talent!

2012 at TalentEgg in review, and looking forward to 2013

When I was 24 and a recent graduate, I started TalentEgg because I wanted to help students and recent graduates who were in the same position that I had recently been in – scared and stressed about the school-to-work transition with nowhere to turn.

Since then, TalentEgg has grown to be Canada’s most popular online destination for career information and jobs among students and recent graduates.

We work with hundreds of really great employers that offer our audience career-launching job opportunities, and our team has produced thousands of resources to help students and recent graduates with all aspects of their transition from school to work – from exploration to decision.

2012 has been a year of maturity for TalentEgg, further expanding our reach and value to students, career services professionals and employers alike.

These are just a few of the new TalentEgg initiatives from 2012:

  • An awards program for employers, which was capped off by a campus recruitment conference and awards ceremony in May that exceeded everyone’s expectations.
  • A customizable widget that allows student groups, career centres and other relevant websites to share the job opportunities on TalentEgg with their own audiences. Since launching this summer, our widget has been integrated across the country.
  • The launch of in the U.S., which has been very successful so far.
  • A new resource hub and community for campus recruiters and HR professionals,, where they can learn and share ideas, tips, tricks and best practices for excellence in campus recruitment.
  • A sponsorship program for student groups that helps student leaders achieve their goals and expands the reach of TalentEgg at schools across the country.

This year we have also received some well-deserved recognition for our team and the contributions we’ve made to the campus recruitment community. We won the CACEE Excellence in Innovation Award in the Student Engagement category in June, Best Expanding Business by the Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF) in October and then Best National Business from CYBF in November, and I was very honoured and humbled to have been named one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women by the Women’s Executive Network  just a few weeks ago.

This week, we capped off our year of expansion by moving to a brand new egg carton (office). It’s three times the size of our former office and 100% us. (See more photos at the end of this post)

My biggest takeaway of the year is realizing the importance of integrity. Much like the often-quoted “common sense isn’t really all that common,” we learned that the integrity with which TalentEgg operates each and every day is not common either. We are proud not only of everything we have accomplished this year, but also of how we have approached everything we do and everyone we work with – students, employers, partners – with integrity and honesty.

And given how much we’ve accomplished in 2012 – our biggest and best year ever across the board – I couldn’t be more egg-cited for the coming year.

Thank you for following along and see you in 2013!
