Comcare provides quality health services at home, at school and at work by responding to the values, preferences and expressed needs of our clients. Comcare maximizes the potential of each individual with whom we interact, creating an environment where our employees achieve the outcomes desired by our clients. Types of Roles Available to New Grads There are many great positions for new grads available with Comcare. Comcare believes in the principle of employment equity in the workplace, to ensure that Aboriginal people, persons with disabilities, visible minorities and women do not face employment barriers within our organization. We are typically looking for RN's, RPN's and nursing students with one or more years of completed education. Our staff are people who want to make a difference, are team players and have a passion for helping people. Training and Development For all of our new hires there is an orientation that will familiarize them with the basics of the job. We also have a preceptor program in place which is very similar to a buddy system. Every new hire is teamed up with an experienced nurse who can help get them settled and comfortable with their new position. We also encourage on going training for our nurses by supporting their continued education as well as by sponsoring various speakers to come talk about relevant subjects regarding nurses today. Additionally there is always a supervisor working, 24 hours a day, just in case there is a staff member who needs assistance. Work/Life Balance At Comcare we are very proud to promote an extremely healthy work/life balance. We use the "Elect to Work Model" to provide maximum flexibility to our staff. The model works like this: the staff member must provide Comcare with their availability and Comcare will schedule their work hours around it. This allows a lot of leeway for unusual hours and generally is very popular. We do everything we can to be accommodating to our staff. Opportunities for Advancement At Comcare we have a long history of hiring from within our company. There are many examples of entry-level staff rising to high levels within the company. Our current VP started out as a nurse, worked her way through a number of management positions and is now in one of the highest offices in the company. There is always room for our staff to advance within the company. Office Culture Because Comcare operates offices throughout Canada it can be a little difficult to talk about the office culture. Each one of our branches has its own unique characteristics and special events. Everyone celebrates birthdays, baby showers, annual holiday parties and a lot more. There is always a piece of cake to be found somewhere! Overall we try to provide a happy, safe, fun and professional environment for our staff to work in. |
