The top 11 jobs for 2011, as well as their estimated increases in starting salaries and core competencies for students and recent grads to know are:

1. Performance Analyst, $56,250 to $86,750

  • Business expertise: evaluate return on investment, prepare statistical reports

2. Controller, $85,500 to $113,750

  • Ability to oversee accounting operations, improve accounting systems as well as internal control systems
  • Ability to help companies expand

3. Public Accountant, $65,000 to $84,250

  • Must be able to cover a broad range of accounting, auditing and tax-related services

4. ERP Business Analyst, $80,00 to $105,000

  • Initiative is vital to this position: employees should be able to help reduce costs and better evaluate clients in a dynamic work environment
