Dare I say that most of us who use Twitter are "mature" enough to use it properly? Unless you're Margaret Cho (http://twitter.com/margaretcho), who Tweets the most vulgar stuff I've ever read, or John Mayer (http://twitter.com/johncmayer), whose Tweets make no sense whatsoever possibly because he's too high to realize what he's Tweeting.

I follow ~100 people and I've never seen anything inappropriate or too odd. However, my standards for appropriateness and odd may be more lax than some.

Maybe they're all following your Twitter-strictions?

Great post! I haven't fallen into Twitter-mania but your concerns are most certainly valid especially when the line between professional and personal is being blurred more and more these days.

Great rules to 'follow' regarding Twitter use! Another Twitter-striction is to watch the timing of your tweets, especially when you are in the office. I've heard of people taking heat from colleagues or clients, when they have been caught updating their tweets before answering emails and voice messages.
