Thank you for linking to my blog as a resource. I would like to caution your readers, however, that building a freelance career can still take quite a bit of time. I freelanced throughout college and went full-time when I graduated. It took me over a year to be making the equivalent of a full-time salary from my freelancing work.

It's true that more people are willing to give you at least an entry point into freelancing, but lower barriers to entry translate into lower pay. That may not be an issue for a student only looking for part-time work — but it can be an issue if you're relying on freelancing as your sole source of support.
