Meet Gabriel.

After high school, Gabriel spent a year as a night security guard at the county hospital, and now he's one of our Loss Prevention Customer Service Agents. He's all smiles as he greets our customers, but he's a hawk when it comes to spotting shoplifters. When he's not parked at the door saying his hellos, he's patrolling the store, popping into all of its nooks and crannies, or scanning for suspicious characters on the CCTV.

He's usually pretty discreet. Except that time we caught him hiding in the purse rack. We never would have spotted him, but it was allergy season, and he couldn't hold it in anymore.

This is Gabriel though. He is one of us.

But know this. Now, if you were to come on board as one of our Loss Prevention Customer Service Agent, we'd ask you to do the following:

  • Acknowledge and greet all customers at the store entrance
  • Operate CCTV equipment to view store activity
  • Respond to Sensormatic alarms and log the alarm in the Sensormatic activity log
  • Check out Associates at front of entrance for breaks and lunches
  • Randomly patrol the store, focusing on high shrink departments, high defeated tag areas and other key opportunity areas
  • Provide assistance and support for Store Investigators as directed using apprehensions
  • Ensure efficient communication with store management, coordinators and District Loss Prevention Managers (DLPM) to have clear understanding of current issues and events
  • Document occurrences and forward to the Store Investigations Supervisor and/or the DLPM
  • Escort store management during cash pickups (no cash handling)

Sounds rather challenging and exciting, right? Let's hope so, because if it sounds easy or boring, there's a good chance this job isn't for you. But if it does sound right for you, here's why we know you'll be able to handle those challenges:

  • You possess your high-school diploma (or equivalent)
  • Ideally, you'll have experience as a security guard, concierge, or store investigator
  • If you have knowledge of CCTV, that'd be a strong asset
  • You possess or are eligible to possess a Provincial Security Guard License (depending on the situation, we may train and provide licensing)
  • You are at least 18 years of age
  • You are friendly, mature, level headed, and calm, and you have strong interpersonal, communications, and reporting skills
  • Some computer skills are required, as is the ability to stand for long periods of time
  • You should have access to a vehicle and a clean driving record; you must also be insured

We know some of that might sound a little daunting, but if we're going to meet and exceed our promises to our customers, we have to be committed to hiring the best person for the job.
