The Sun Life Information Technology Rotational Program, under the Rotational Leadership Development Program (RLDP) umbrella, provides a unique opportunity to gain specialized experience in an accelerated development manner. Through three eight-month rotations within one of the four practice areas outlined below, you will gain critical technical and business skills, use the latest technology and practices in growing fields, gain knowledge of the financial services industry and a broad understanding of Sun Life’s products, clients and business strategy.
Data & Business Intelligence
You will gain exposure to our Big Data Centre of Excellence by working with large and complex data sets of both structured and unstructured data, using technologies such as HIVE, PIG, Lumaria, SAS Visual Analyzer, SAP Mobile BI.Building on this practical foundation, you will work with our Data Architects to develop your capacity to design, create, deploy and manage our corporate Data Architecture.

This team, comprised of highly skilled individuals, innovates and leads the design and development of digital solutions (Web, Mobile, Contact Centre) across various lines of business and strives to be the industry leader in digital.
Cyber-security is the number one risk that all companies, governments and individuals face on a daily basis. We need intelligent, ambitious, risk-conscious and collaborative employees, with different skills and abilities to fulfill security roles such as advisory and consulting, forensic investigations, incident and vulnerability management and the development of global awareness campaigns. Our environment is fast paced and challenging, requiring you to learn quickly.
Governance, Risk and Compliance
Governance, risk management and compliance are gaining increasing importance across all organizations and industries. Specializing in this area will introduce you to Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery and Crisis Management, Service Management Excellence, andEnterprise Infrastructure Project Management Office, three functions that are critical in large, global facing organizations.
The accelerated nature of this program provides individuals with early leadership opportunities and interaction with the IT Executive Team and other senior leaders in the company. Upon completion of the two-year program, we expect your next role in the organization to be in your area of specialization, however, this will depend on your career aspirations, the needs of the organization and your standing over the duration of the program.
- Candidates must be currently enrolled in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science or business undergraduate program

Additional Competencies for the Opportunity in Digital Technology
- Understanding of the difference between UX and UI design and development with an emphasis on maximizing usability
- Solid UI interface development (Typography, Photography)
- Utilizes storyboarding and graphic pre-designs where appropriate
- Experience with the ADOBE Suite, especially Illustrator and Photoshop
- Exposure or understanding of Weblogic or equivalent application server, and Eclipse IDE
- Experience with application software testing tools & techniques
- Application development using JAVA technologies - JAVA, JDBC, J2EE frameworks
- Object Oriented Design & Development
- JavaServer Pages (JSP)
