Public Relations - Billingual Communications Manager, P&G Canada - 12 Month Contract - French Proficiency Mandatory
Job Title and Business Purpose:
Communications Manager, P&G Canada
Reporting to the Senior Communications Manager, the Communications Manager will develop and lead brand Public Relations and Influencer programs for P&G Canada multi-brand programs, develop Communications capability for P&G Canada, and lead P&G Quebec Communications strategy and execution. The role is based out of the P&G Canada General Office at 4711 Yonge Street (south of Sheppard Ave) in North York. This is a contract position for 12 months starting Tuesday July 4th, 2017.
Multi-Brand PR and influencer programs:
The Communications manager is responsible for overall strategic direction and development for P&G Canada multi-brand (scale) PR and influencer programs. The individual will work with PR agencies, brand managers, category Comms managers, and shopper marketing managers to develop paid-owned-earned media and social media campaigns leveraging influencers such as media, social influencers, and other category stakeholders. Individual will manage issues and crises as needed.
As part of the P&G Canada Brand Operations Team, the individual will develop and deploy Communications training, best practises, and guidance to P&G Canada brand teams and PR agencies. The scope will vary from basic PR training to process best practises to strategic guidance. This includes working with category Comms managers, Purchasing and other stakeholders to provide consistent direction internally and externally.
The Communications manager is responsible to develop relationships with relevant Quebec influencers and integrate deep understanding of trends and insights to provide strategic direction and inspiration for Quebec brand PR and influencer programs across all P&G categories. The individual will work with P&G brand managers, category Comms managers, and PR agencies to adapt and execute national PR plans or create locally relevant plans for Quebec based on the business objective and local insights.
Job Qualification 1:
A successful, proven track record in demonstrating excellent written and oral communications. Fluency in both English and French is required. Work requires extensive communications both with internal and external stakeholders in both languages.
Job Qualification 2:
Strong leadership skills are a must. The Communications Manager must be able to create a vision, and engage and energize those they work with to achieve goals. The individual will need to make quick business decisions on communications with media and internal P&G managers, sometimes during crisis.
Job Qualification 3:
This role requires someone who collaborates effectively across geographic and organizational boundaries to form mutually beneficial relationships. Work will require frequent contact with multi-functional resources including brand, agencies, media, legal, global team, senior management etc.
Job Qualification 4:
The PR Manager actively listens to learn and understand, and appreciates, anticipates, and responds to needs of key stakeholders. The individual consistently searches for external perspectives and actively brings that knowledge back and reapplies to the business. A passion for news, media, public relations, pop culture, and consumer packaged goods, especially in Quebec, are critical elements of this role.

Must be able to prioritize effectively in order to keep on top of multiple tasks. Attention to detail is especially required for managing critical path and budgets for projects.
Job Qualification 7:
Prior PR experience
Candidate must have a minimum of 3-5 years PR experience in the Canadian PR industry. Prior experience in consumer packaged goods and in Quebec is considered an asset.
