Be part of the momentum. We are currently seeking a Co-op Accounting Technician for our Assurance and Accounting team for a 8 month term beginning January 2018 until August 2018. RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

Performance Expectations

  • Assist in the execution of compilation, review, audit, bookkeeping and tax engagements
  • Prepare and maintain payroll and related government remittances/filings, recording of sales, accounts receivable, expenses, accounts payable and payroll transactions
  • Set up client files, assist with the completion of budgets and other administrative planning and completion aspects of accounting work
  • Assist with the month-end and quarter-end process
  • Maintain, monitor and reconcile GL accounts, including but not limited to cash, bank reconciliations, prepaid expenses, accounts receivable, accounts payable, accrued liabilities, intercompany and point of sale (POS)/system uploads
  • Help identify issues and errors, investigate discrepancies, discuss with manager or engagement partner and develop resolutions to resolve
  • Communicate with governments regarding information requests, assessments and installments
  • Work with accounting software and provide support to clients
  • Develop and maintain relationships with client management
  • Develop a thorough understanding of MNP’s services, businesses and industry
  • Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes while effectively using MNP internal programs and systems
  • Raise awareness of MNP at community events
  • Attend internal MNP courses to further develop accounting and assurance knowledge

Credentials

  • Working towards a Commerce or Business Administration degree (Accounting and/or Finance major preferably)
  • Enrolled in the Co-op program at your post-secondary institution
  • Previous accounting related office experience is an asset
  • Customer service and/or client service experience is desirable
  • Experience working with, or exposure to, accounting and tax software such as Caseware, Profile, Quickbooks and Simply Accounting is beneficial
  • Strong computer literacy including effective working skills of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Some travel may be required
