KPMG was the proud recipient of several Employer of Choice awards in 2011. For the eighth time, our firm was recognized in the overall Canada's Top 100 Employers competition. This prestigious award acknowledges employers that lead their industries in offering exceptional workplaces to their employees. KPMG also received the 2011 Greater Toronto's Top Employers award, which determines winners based on the same criteria, but on a regional scale. In addition to these broad-based competitions, KPMG was also the recipient of four other Top Employer awards for our efforts in specified areas.

For the fourth year in a row, KPMG's inclusiveness efforts were recognized with two prestigious recognitions, including being named one of the Best Employers for New Canadians and one of Canada's Best Diversity Employers for 2011. KPMG is the only organization to win both awards, consecutively!

KPMG’s Partnership with Free the Children:

In response to feedback provided by KPMG people about their passion for international development and their desire to help their children become socially engaged, last year we launched a 4 year partnership with Free The Children.

Our partnership encompasses:

• Engagement in our local communities across Canada. Through support of local Free The Children campaigns such as Halloween for Hunger, which encourages collection of canned goods instead of candy to support local food banks.
• Engaging our families. KPMG offices across Canada have been hosting “Family Workshops” with Marc and Craig Kielburger, helping young people discover how they can combine their talents and interests to make a difference at any age.
• Advancing international development. KPMG is supporting communities in India leveraging Free The Children’s holistic Adopt a Village model. KPMG is uniquely adopting 3 communities at one time with a particular focus on Alternative Income pillar to help these communities advance more rapidly.
• Engaging in international development. All KPMG people have the ability to participate on volunteer trips to India or Kenya with Free The Children. The trips are available to KPMG people and their families who pay their own way, however the firm does offer a subsidy to non-management staff. In 2011, KPMG hosted 2 sold-out trips to Kenya; in 2012 KPMG is offering 3 trips to Kenya and its first trip to India.

You and KPMG. Giving Together.

In 2008, KPMG began the "You and KPMG. Giving Together." initiative and it continues to encourage students to become involved in their communities. The program can be found as a Facebook application on the KPMGCampusCDN Page. This year’s program will run until Spring 2012, at which time KPMG will be making a total donation of $10,000! The donation will be allocated among the six participating organizations based on the level of voting support they receive from students on the Facebook page.

Global opportunities for students and recent grads at KPMG

KPMG is part of a global network of firms and actively supports and encourages international assignments through our Global Opportunities (GO) program. Our aim is to develop people and transfer knowledge across borders, while at the same time delivering value to clients and communities and enriching the life experiences of our people.

With over 90 countries participating in the GO program, there are a wide variety of options for our people to live and work in new countries, develop new skills, and become well-rounded, internationally-focused professionals who are poised for success.
 

KPMG is the first firm in Canada to offer the Global Internship Program which aims to provide exceptional students with the opportunity to work with KPMG in Canada’s global clients to gain an understanding of international business.

Once accepted into the program, students will start in their home country working with KPMG professionals, and then will travel for to work with another KPMG member firm in a different country for four weeks. KPMG offers Global Internship Program placements in Audit, Tax, and Advisory. Students that have accepted an internship opportunity with KPMG are eligible to apply to the Global Internship Program. If a student is selected to participate in the program, they will benefit from full placement support including visa, flight, and lodging cost coverage.
