This includes multiple architectures such as Intel, Power, Mainframe, and others along with key services such as general technical support, private cloud, source code management, IT Security management, storage, network, backups, and more.

Who you are:

You are a keen learner; willing to go beyond books and websites by self-initiating opportunities to gain hands-on experience to test theories. You are not afraid to challenge the status quo and drive change. The quality of your work matters to you as does improving the work of your teammates. You are looking for a career and not just a job. In other words, you want to be an IBMer. If this describes you, let's talk.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide world-class technical support to customers on their development environments (Windows Server and Linux running either standalone or on KVM/VMware).
  • Become an expert on managing Windows images on KVM hosts managed by OpenStack.
  • Help migrate more of our customers' infrastructure to private cloud solutions.
  • Learn our Developers' technical solution pipeline requirements and then contribute to technical architecture transformations/evolution.
  • Create, implement and maintain great IT solutions/processes that follow industry best practices and drive efficiency.
  • Be available for on call support on a rotation basis.

The Windows & Virtualization Systems Infrastructure/Specialist will work closely with the Development Cloud Platform (Intel) team consisting of infrastructure and systems administrators, other teams within the broader Canada Lab IT organization and the IBM Software Development team (our customers).

Our industry is going through immense change, and so is our team. There are many huge challenges in areas such as moving to private clouds, infusing cognitive technology into IT, mass automation and others that our team is working on. In this role, a person will grow their skills, contribute in a meaningful way and have an opportunity to lead projects that transform our customers' IT experience.

If you are passionate about the IT space, IT Security trends and best practices, emerging virtualization technology, Microsoft and Linux news, scripting technology/advancements and are looking for an opportunity to grow and provide meaningful support in a dynamic & exciting environment, this is your opportunity!
