Job Description

Position Summary and Responsibilities:

Participates on or leads team on small project or a segment of a larger project. Works according to plans developed by the project lead or translates those portions of customer requirements they are responsible for into plans to culminate in client acceptance of results, or have acceptance in the targeted market, while meeting business objectives. Must demonstrate the ability to track and control milestones and deliverables.

  • Basic knowledge of the PMI Process Groups; Initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and closing.
  • Basic knowledge of current Project Management methodologies.
  • Demonstrates the required proficiency levels for skills defined at this position in the IBM Skills Management System.
  • Knowledge in business matters, finance, planning, forecasting and resources in order to manage team staff and business issues.
  • Recognizes and articulates problems related to the project / segment of the project.
  • Applies creativity and judgment in development of solutions or deliverable objectives.
  • As appropriate, challenges the validity of given procedures and processes with a view toward enhancement or improvement.
  • Works on and understands the objectives related to the small project or segment of a larger project from a cost, schedule, technical and quality perspective.
  • Decides own priorities and is able to recommend project trade-offs.
  • Understands department / project mission and applies this understanding in project activities. Displays proper use of PM method and tools to team members throughout the project life cycle.
  • Accountable for meeting customer requirements and obtain the results of the project segment, unit or deliverable assigned through effective tracking and control.
  • Participates in or responsible for project planning.
  • Identifies, estimates and presents cost, schedule, business and technical risk for project segment, unit or deliverable assigned.
  • Interfaces directly with corresponding levels of customer staff.
  • Performs activities to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Responsible for their financial baseline and its impacts to the overall department and / or project costs and expenses.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise:

  • Basic knowledge of the PMI Process Groups; Initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and closing.
