The following student position is a part of IBM Canada's EPIC (Employment Pathways to Interns & Co-ops) Student Program. This position is only open to students registered in a Canadian University or College program, who have completed a minimum of 2 years of their degree or diploma program, and who must be returning to full-time study upon the completion of the temporary IBM work term.

*This Student Position resides in Markham, ON and is a 16 (internship) month work term commencing May 2017.

In an ever increasingly connected world where the amount of data generated every day is exploding and systems are being built on the cloud, businesses are struggling to maintain their corporate security perimeter. The IBM Security AppScanÂÂŽ software family of products enables organizations to assess the security of their applications and achieve regulatory compliance by identifying vulnerabilities and generating reports with intelligent fix recommendations to ease remediation. IBM Security AppScan Source integrates application security testing into the software development lifecycle. It helps organizations save money and reduce risk by identifying software vulnerabilities early in this lifecycle and eliminating them before deployment. IBM Security AppScan Source supports testing for both hybrid and native mobile applications, with language support that includes JavaScript, Java and Objective-C.

Our Developers participate in all aspects of software development, from inception and design through code implementation and delivery, contribute to and learn about all technologies utilized by the product across the different tiers and work closely with senior technical team members on high-level architecture and designs. As an Automation Engineer, you will be an integral part of the AppScan Development team responsible for managing our Automated QA system using Jenkins and Urban Code. Your responsibilities will include designing and implementing new innovative and automated ways to ensuring the robustness and quality of our AppScan solutions, expanding existing test scenarios to cover new functionality and investigating failures in nightly test runs.

Candidates for this role should have an interest in learning and writing code in a variety of programming languages and/or different platforms, possess an innovative mindset and passion to push the state-of-the-art in the area of static analysis as it pertains to application security and thrive on a self-managing team in an Agile development environment. Curiosity is a must!

Required Education: High School Diploma/GED

Preferred Education: Pre-University Qualification

Required Technical and Professional Expertise:

  • Experience with Windows, Linux and/or MacOS operating systems
  • Experience investigating and debugging software failures
  • Experience with scripting languages
  • Knowledge of the software development cycle
  • Co-op or internship program enrollment is mandatory

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience:

  • Experience in C++/Java development, Eclipse/Visual Studio development environments, Object oriented programming and design
  • Experience in Jenkins and/or Urban Code automation software
  • Knowledge of Application Security concepts programming languages

Eligibility Requirements:
