The following student position is a part of IBM Canada's EPIC (Employment Pathways to Interns & Co-ops) Student Program. This position is only open to students registered in a Canadian University or College program, who have completed a minimum of 2 years of their degree or diploma program, and who must be returning to full-time study upon the completion of the temporary IBM work term.
*This Student Position resides in Toronto, Ontario and is a 4 or 8 (co-op) month work term commencing January 2017.

In this position, you will learn how to use leading edge cluster computing technologies like Apache Spark for large scale data processing. You will learn how to analyze large data sets using the Data Scientist Workbench with tools like Jupyter Notebook. You will learn about machine learning and how to write data analysis code in Python, R, or Scala. You will need all these skills in whatever career you choose because digital data is growing quickly and with us to stay.
This term will provide you with practical real world experience with leading technologies to supplement your studies.
What will you create this work term? Required Education: High School Diploma/GED
Preferred Education: Pre-University Qualification
Required Technical and Professional Expertise:
- Experience with Windows and/or Linux operating systems
- Demonstrates verbal and written communications skills
- Proven capability of learning new programming languages and software quickly
- Co-op or internship program enrollment is mandatory
Preferred Technical and Professional Experience:
- ability to create complex tutorials and teach others
- Pass at least one statistics course
- Data mining experience
- Experience with programming languages like Python, R, or Scala
- Experience with Jupyter Notebook (http://jupyter.org/)
