The following student position is a part of IBM Canada's EPIC (Employment Pathways to Interns & Co-ops) Student Program. This position is only open to students registered in a Canadian University or College program, who have completed a minimum of 2 years of their degree or diploma program, and who must be returning to full-time study upon the completion of the temporary IBM work term.

*This Student Position resides in Ottawa, ON and is a 4 or 8 (co-op) month work term commencing January 2017.

The following job responsibilities for Communications Specialist - Co-op include:

IBM Canada's Centre for Advanced Studies is seeking a communications intern who blends proven written and oral communications skills with media relations knowledge, a flair for design, deep understanding of social media and a passion for employee engagement. The ideal candidate will have a minimum 2 years of their academic program completed, proven written and oral communications skills, demonstrated understanding of digital media channels and trends and the ability to manage multiple projects to deadline. The successful candidate will work with IBM Canada's Centre for Advanced Studies (CAS) team, the World-Wide CAS team, the IBM Design team, and IBM's Innovation Ecosystem to plan and execute successful communications initiatives designed to help build belief and advocacy for the IBM Centre for Advanced Studies brand with employees, academics, clients, business partners, industry bodies, governments and influencers.

Required Education: High School Diploma/GED

Preferred Education: Pre-University Qualification

Required Technical and Professional Expertise:

  • Demonstrates written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven social media knowledge
  • Experience in digital trends
  • Co-op or internship program enrollment is mandatory

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience:

  • Design experience
