Reporting to the OLRT Systems Installations Director, the mechanical engineer will be responsible for the production aspects of the work and are accountable for: producing quality work that is constructed consistent with the standard's set forth in the project's contract documents; for performing the work in a timely and cost effective manner and for maintaining a work environment that is safe and continuously kept clean and orderly.

In the position of Mechanical Engineer we would ask you to do the following:

  • Take part in constructability reviews with the design groups;
  • Be directly responsible for the implementation of works both self-performed and through subcontractors;
  • Work with key system sub-contractors on the installation and set-to-work of their equipment;
  • Direct field operations within an assigned area;
  • Complete works within defined parameters, including schedule, budget and quality;
  • Coordinate works and ensure quality and safety;
  • Support Test & Commissioning activities as necessary.

Required skills, knowledge and abilities:

  • In depth experience with the review/analysis of design mechanical, including, civil, utility, etc. Has the ability to identify errors, omissions and conflicts in applicable drawings;
  • Be able to manage, organize, direct and assess subcontractors/vendor performance in a non-adversarial manner;
  • Experienced in Subcontractor/Vendor contract management;
  • Experienced in Occupational Safety and Health Administration construction standards including material handling, storage, use and disposal, tool and power usage, and excavation; knowledge of proper activities and equipment intended to prevent accidents;
  • Experienced in organizing, directing and assessing subcontractor and "own forces" work quality and provide a working process for identifying and insuring correction of any non-conformance items;
  • Have a mechanical related degree/diploma in mechanical engineering and ten to fifteen years of experience;
  • Experience interacting with design groups and suppliers;
  • Excellent communication skills and a strong, self-motivated, work ethic;
  • Ability to make decisions in the field based on sound judgment and experience;
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure;
  • Experienced in scheduling, project management and contract software;
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills and the ability to work on multiple Project simultaneously.
