Are you a passionate, dedicated professional who values excellence? The Ottawa Light Rail Transit project is looking for you! Join our team as we work towards delivering Ottawa's most significant infrastructure project in over 100 years.

Reporting to OLRT's Construction Management Team, the successful candidates will be responsible for providing engineering support to various segments of the OLRT Project. This position is ideal for a student who is currently enrolled in a Civil, Mechanical, &/or Electrical Engineering program.

 This is a full-time position for a term of four (4) (September 2016 to December 2016) months, located in Ottawa, Ontario.

In the position of Field Engineering Assistant (Student) - OLRT, we would ask you to do the following:

  • Coordinate onsite engineering activities as directed by the Field Engineer and the Superintendent
  • Maintain RFI records and communicate the required information to the relevant parties
  • Assist with the preparation of regular progress reports, including records of site construction progress to date
  • Coordinate with subcontractors as required under the direction of the Field Engineer and Superintendent
  • Conduct site investigations as required and submit reports to Quality
  • Assist with the coordination of project administrative functions, shop drawing control, change order control, trade tendering, purchasing, and general office requirements
  • Assist with the organization and maintenance of project files, records, systems and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Must be a current Civil Engineering student at an accredited college or university; enrollment in a co-op or internship program is preferred
  • Completion of 2nd or 3rd year studies preferred
  • Proficiency with the MS Office suite is required
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have experience with one or more of the following:
  • Reading and understanding engineering drawings
  • Working in a construction environment
  • MS Project
  • Primavera
  • AutoCAD
