Position Description:

The role is accountable to support the development of Departmental and Group, Project financial plans and forecasts, produce monthly management reporting and analysis, assist with the development of financial models and metrics to support Departmental/Group specific requirements, and to ensure compliance with financial governance frameworks and established CPPIB processes.

Role-Specific Accountabilities

  • Performs month-end financial closing activities including accruals to ensure accurate financial results for Departments
  • Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual reporting and analysis for Core Services and Investment Departments, focused on key metrics and business drivers
  • Assists in the development of new reports and spreadsheet models to support on-going financial and management reporting requirements
  • Partners with Core Services and Investment Departments to produce annual budgets and forecasts
  • Assists in the development of cost allocation methodologies and reporting

Projects and Other Responsibilities

  • Promotes continuous improvement and proactively indentifies opportunities to enhance existing management reporting processes and procedures
  • Assists as required with financial systems business user requirements and user acceptance testing
  • Assists with the documentation and development of internal control policies and procedures
  • Other special projects as they arise

Peers all Core Services departments and the Investment Departments

Colleagues of Total Cost Analysis & Control team to provide sufficient explanations for monthly and quarterly results to support consolidated reporting packages to the Senior Management Team and the Board of Directors

Position Requirements:

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • University degree in business or other relevant discipline
  • Professional designation or working towards a professional designation such as a CPA (CMA, CA, CGA)
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in management and/or financial reporting
  • Experience working within large organizations, pension fund or financial services industries considered an asset
  • A team player with strong written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proactive, reliable, and honours commitments
  • High level of integrity
  • Demonstrated ability to produce insightful analysis of business issues and suggest potential solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, manage, and execute regular tasks within scope of role with minimal direction
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage increasing levels of complexity and ambiguity
  • Advanced knowledge in the use of Excel, including complex formulas, macros, and modeling
  • Experience with financial management reporting systems
  • Experience with TM1 / Cognos and Oracle Financials is considered an asset
