Position Description:

  • Reporting to the Manager of Tax Compliance, the primary responsibility of the role is to ensure CPPIB and its subsidiaries meet all tax compliance obligations, both Canadian and non-Canadian, for income tax, withholding tax, and relevant indirect taxes. The main responsibilities are to:
  • Prepare and organize all tax forms and tax slips e.g. W8 forms, consent forms, T4A-NR slips, T1204 slips  & 1099 slips, amongst others
  • Prepare and coordinate all payment request and tax remittances in a timely manner
  • Reconcile tax accounts
  • Interact with the Canada Revenue Agency and other foreign revenue authorities to resolve payment and tax issues
  • Assist in the preparation and coordination of all Canadian corporate income tax returns
  • Assist in the preparation and coordination of monthly and annual GST/HST and other indirect tax related filings
  • Develop and maintain tax control schedules & process documentation
  • Assist in the coordination of foreign income tax and other tax filings
  • Other Projects
  • Special projects and/or ad hoc reporting as assigned

Position Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
  • Accounting designation is preferred
  • Good organizational skills with ability to work in a fast paced environment and manage multiple deadlines and priorities
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proven ability to work effectively with teams
  • Proficiency in MS office software knowledge - Outlook/Word/Excel
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
