Surety Professional Associates participate in our surety training program with the ultimate goal to become Surety Underwriters. The one-year long training program combines on the job and formal training.
Our Surety Professional Associate will learn the fundamentals of the surety business, acquire an understanding of Chubb's underwriting philosophy and tools, develop the financial acumen necessary to become an underwriter, learn about the structure of the company and the department, and gain knowledge about the insurance industry while developing his/her business and communication skills.
Surety Professional Associates contribute to the achievement of the Surety Department goals by assisting in the underwriting and service functions of the Department and are expected to assume greater responsibilities as their underwriting abilities develop.
Surety Underwriters will have underwriting as well as marketing responsibilities on an assigned book of business. The underwriting responsibilities include reviewing and evaluating financial information and contract documents, forming an opinion and making recommendations based on that information. The position includes marketing responsibilities such as maintaining and servicing existing accounts, developing new relationships, and visiting with customers and agents regularly.
- Completion of University degree (Finance or Accounting degree desirable).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills – in both French and English.
- Strong financial background (banking/financial services).
- Significant analytical skills.
- Superior customer service skills.
- Experience in the Construction Field considered an asset.
